Pierce’s Homecoming Festivities Starting Soon

By Emma Risinger

Mark your calendars! Pierce High School’s homecoming week is officially on the horizon!

Starting on Monday, September 26, and going through Saturday, October 1, there will be a variety of festivities that students and community members alike can participate in.

First are the dress-up days for the jr./sr. high students. On Monday the theme is tie dye, Tuesday is fake injuries day, on Wednesday students will represent their class colors, Thursday will be Adam Sandler day, and Friday will be centered around Bluejay spirit. All jr./sr. high students are highly encouraged to participate to show their Pierce High pride.

Next up is the pep rally which will be held at the elementary school on Friday, September 30. Here the elementary school students will hear about all the fall activities they may participate in once they are in high school. The band and cheerleaders will perform, and then students will have the opportunity to get signatures from their favorite Pierce High athletes, actors, club representatives, and musicians.

Following the elementary school pep rally, there will then be a parade through the town with various fall activities having their own floats. These floats include one for the football players, volleyball, softball, cheer, one act, FCCLA, and others. These will all be led by the Pierce High marching band.

The next activity for Friday will be a pep rally at the high school. Here the homecoming king and queen candidates will be brought out to participate in a fun and entertaining activity along with the rest of the senior class. The queen candidates are Ella Gaes, Morgan Moeller, Kaila Spieker, and Brielle Unseld, and the king candidates are Benjamin Brahmer, Jayden Coulter, Bode Hoffmann, and Dalton Svoboda.

Of course, on Friday night there will be a varsity football game at the high school against the O’Neill Eagles. The game starts at seven, and everyone is welcome to attend. There will be a supper held at the game as a fundraiser for the junior class; all profits go toward prom and the class’s graduation ceremony expenses next year, so come hungry! The junior class also sells raffle tickets.

Also, immediately following the game, the king and queen coronation will begin. All the candidates will walk the track while all of their activities and accomplishments are read. Stick around to see who will become homecoming royalty!

Finally, on Saturday, October 1, the dance will be held at the auditorium for 9th-12th grade students. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the dance begins at 8 and ends at 11. Tickets will be $5, and will be available for purchase from Mrs. Adams, or a representative from boys letter club, girls letter club, or cheerleaders. Specific people have not yet been chosen.

So get ready! In just a week, the homecoming celebrations will begin!
