Pierce High to Present “Bedtime Stories”

PHS’s all-school play cast, crew, and directors will perform this year’s production, Bedtime Stories (As Told by Our Dad) (Who Messed Them Up) on Friday, April 16, and Saturday, April 17, at 7 p.m. in the Pierce Auditorium.

The play begins with an exhausted father (Tanner Kuper) tasked with putting his three young children (Katelyn Gubbels, Noah Jones, and Emma Risinger) to bed while his wife is ill. The children each demand a bedtime story of a different type before they will agree to go to sleep, so Dad begrudgingly tells three classic tales, but he doesn’t quite get the details right.

These “mixed up” fairy tales include “The Princess and the Pea” starring Shawn Zellmer, Ashley Wacker, Zachary Price, and Kaila Spieker in lead roles; “The Boy Who Cried Dinosaur” featuring Price, Nikolas Harvey, Zellmer, Aubrey Hanson, Ren Gleason, and Brock Bolling in speaking roles; and “Rumpelstiltskin” starring Dalton Svoboda, Brielle Unseld, Zaylah Pfanstiel, and Harvey. “The Boy Who Cried Dinosaur” also features a chorus of sheep and militia members, both of whom contribute to the chaos, and “The Princess and the Pea” stars a parade of princesses, all hoping to win the Prince’s hand.

This year’s play is directed by Melissa Legate and assistant directors Kate and Brock Bretschneider.

Admission at the door will be $5 for adults and $3 for students K-12. Masks and social distancing will be recommended.
