by Makinzie Parsons

Pierce FFA sent nine members to Northeast Community College in Norfolk for District Livestock Judging on January 30th. Travis Jensen was the lone senior judger. The other eight included Colbey Jensen, Luke Endorf, Grant Snodgrass, Colton Fritz, Cameron Armitage, Makinzie Parsons, and Carter Meier who all entered at the Junior Level. Overall, Grant Snodgrass placed 3rd, Endorf placed 4th, Fritz placed 7th and Parsons got 10th. The contest hosted 104 Junior contestants and 92 senior contestants. They will be competing in a few other contests before state rolls around. Advisor Mr. Matthew Neals says, “Livestock judging gives students the ability to  confidently evaluate animals, make quick decisions, and also improves their public speaking skills.” G. Snodgrass said that he felt he exceeded his expectations and went into the rounds not knowing how well he would do, came out successful.
