Cross Country Finishes Their Season Strong

by Gina Wragge

Four Pierce cross country team members, Alexus Sindelar, Callie Arnold, Mason Sindelar, and Brock Bolling shined during the state meet at the Kearney Country Club on Friday, November 25. No team scores were kept for Pierce due to not having enough competitors.

Individually, Gavin Geneski did not finish the race due to a hamstring injury. Mason Sindelar was the state runner-up for Class C in the boys’ division with a time of 16:16.3 for the second year in a row. Sindelar says, “It wasn’t what I was hoping, but I think that it will prepare me and the team for next year. Carson Noecker was a great runner and deserved to get 1st, but all I have to say is that I’m coming for the gold next year.”

Also competing for the boys, Brock Bolling placed 48th finishing with a time of 18:12.2. Bolling says, “It was a fun season, and I hope I will be at state again next year.” For the ladies, Alexus Sindelar placed 13th with a time of 20:28.6. Callie Arnold also finished 25th with a time of 21:10.6. Arnold says, “State is always a fun experience. I thought I ran a pretty good race, and I had a decent time. I wish I could have placed a little bit higher, but it is what it is. After the meet was over it didn’t feel like it was the end of the season.”

This meet concludes the 2019 cross country season for the Pierce Bluejays.
