Students Participate in FCCLA Week
by Elizabeth Hammer
National FCCLA Week was held from February 11-15. At Pierce High, students celebrated with dress-up days and other activities organized by the FCCLA chapter.
Some of the FCCLA’s activities included candy gram sales and distribution and a bake sale as fundraisers. For the bake sale, students could either buy goodies with cash or exchange health care items for a tasty treat made by the FCCLA members. The FCCLA also organized a collection of personal-care items that were collected by first-period classes throughout the week and donated to Bright Horizons.
Each day of FCCLA Week also had a different theme for students to take part in. Monday’s theme was “be spirited” and dress up like a hippy. Tuesday was “be confident” and wear your pajamas to school. On Wednesday, the theme was “be a friend” and dress up like a twin with someone of your choosing. Thursday was the last day of dressing up as there was no school Friday, and students were encouraged to wear red, the color of FCCLA.
FCCLA vice president Alexis Schnoor said, “FCCLA week went super smooth thanks to our new candy gram system. It was fun to see the student body support the club by dressing up and buying candy grams.”
