Choirs Perform Spring Concert

by Moran Crist

Pierce’s elementary, junior high, and senior high choir students performed a concert on Thursday, March 31, in the high school gym.

Under the direction of Terri Haselhorst, the elementary concert began the night.

This concert was followed by the junior high, who performed “Hush, Somebody’s Calling My Name” by Rollo Dilworth and “Michael Finnegan” by Dave and Jean Perry as a full choir. An eighth grade girls’ ensemble of Katelynn Anderson, Kenzie Moeller, Bridgett Raff, Destiny Ronnfeldt, Rhylie Roth, Alexis Schnoor, McKenna Shonka, and Hannah Whitmore sang “Something Told the Wild Geese.” The seventh grade girls’ ensemble of Samantha Fischer, Alle Koehler, Graison Pfeifer, Cara Graae, Angel Heisinger, Michaela Williams, and Makinzie Parsons sang “Sarasponda.” The duet of Alexis Schnoor and Destiny Ronnfeldt sang “Listen to the Wind.” The junior high swing choir also performed “Mississippi Mud,” “Fly,” and “I Won’t Grow Up.

Finally, the senior high choir members sang a small collection of songs for their spring concert. Celine Fehringer was the accompanist for the three pieces performed. The girls’ ensemble presented “Who Has Seen the Wind?” by Douglas Wagner, and the full choir sang “Omnia Sol” by Z. Randall Stroope, and “With a Voice of Singing” by Martin Shaw.

Of the high school performance, Haselhorst said, “They performed very well. They have a contest coming up, and it was a great pre-contest practice.”

The senior high choir will have a pre contest recital on Tuesday, April 18, at 6:30 p.m. The location has yet to be decided. The district music contest will take place on April 21.
