The Pierce FCCLA chapter went to Northeast Community College to attend the annual District Leadership Conference on Wednesday, October 20.
The theme for this year’s conference was “Sea Yourself Into FCCLA.” The conference started off with the introduction and installation of this year’s District 8 officers. This year’s District 8 president is Sydney Erickson. Then, keynote speaker, DeMoine Adams, gave an inspirational speech. Later, everyone headed to breakout sessions and tours. After choosing and attending two breakout sessions, the group members all met back for lunch. During lunch, there was a raffle auction and photo booth. All the proceeds from these events went to Bright Horizons. Finally, the closing session took place, where the District 8 officers thanked everyone for coming.
“I think that the sessions at DLC were really good, and the keynote speaker had one of the best keynote speeches we’ve had in a long time,” said advisor, Cheryl Timm. “I’m hoping the members who went from Pierce got a lot out of it.“
