Bluejays Conquer Cadets

Pierce varsity Bluejays played West Point Cadets on Friday, October 12 in West Point. The Bluejays claimed the win against Cadets 45-7.
Starting the game off, junior Carson Oestreich scored a six yard touchdown and the extra point was good by senior Devan Roth. Oestreich then pulled out another touchdown by running three yards, and Roth’s kick was also good. That ends the first quarter 14-0 for the Bluejays.
During the second quarter, junior Dalton Freeman got a 31 yard touchdown the the Bluejays, and kick by Roth was good. Roth then kicked a 33 yard field goal for the Bluejays. Going into halftime, score in favor of the Bluejays is 24-0.
In the second half, junior Brett Tinker sprinted for a 64 yard touchdown for the Bluejays, and Roth’s extra point was good. Senior Ryder Fuchs squeezed in a two yard touchdown and Roth’s kick was good for the extra point. Ending the third quarter, 38-0 with the Bluejays in the lead.
In the final quarter, Cadets brought in a one yard touchdown against the Bluejays. Junior Jeremiah Kruntorad fought back and scored a 14 yard touchdown and sophomore Chaden Roth’s extra point was good to wrap up the game 45-7.
Pierce varsity head coach Mark Brahmer expressed how he was very proud of his boys’ effort and execution from Friday night. Brahmer also stated how his offensive line played by saying, “Again, our offensive line and tight ends played hard paving the way for over 450 rushing yards.” He also talked about the defensive line by stating, “Our defensive line, linebackers, and defensive backfield played equally well to shut down a dangerous offensive scheme with talented players.”
Pierce’s highest rusher was Oestreich with 155, and Tinker followed close behind with 153. Highest tackler was Tinker with 14 tackles for the night.
Varsity Bluejays next game is Friday, October 19 against Boone Central at home. Pierce is also holding its annual Parents Night for all football players.
Bluejays Fight Braves

The Pierce Junior High Football team traveled to Battle Creek and played two games, 7th grade and 8th grade, on Thursday, October 11. The 7th graders lost 0-35. The 8th graders won 22-8 to end the season 5-0.
Ben Brahmer scored a touchdown and then followed it up with a two-point conversion, then 12 plays later Abram Scholting threw a touchdown pass to Ben Brahmer, but no two-point conversion was completed. Nik Harvey also made a touchdown and Ben Brahmer completed the two-point conversion.
Coach Warneke said, “As coaches, we are very proud of their efforts throughout the season. This class has the numbers and potential to be successful during their high school season. They need to understand that it will not be an easy task. They will have to work extra hard to continue to be successful and reach their full potential.”
This was the final game of the season for the junior high.
