All School Play Schedules Tryouts
The high school’s All School Play will be holding tryouts on Thursday, February 2 and Friday, February 3. The name of the play is Pirates of Penzance.
Anybody in seventh through twelfth grade is able to try out for the play, and tryouts will be held at the high school in room 306, after school both days.
Mrs. Danielle Goetsch is the director of this play, and will be working with assistant coach, Mrs. Misti Halsey. The play is a musical constructed of five male lead parts, five female lead parts, and several female and male supporting roles. The crew for the play will be open to any person who is willing to perform tasks that will need to be done.
This play is about a boy who mistakenly becomes a pirate. Asked what he wants to be, the boy says he wants to be a pilot. But his nanny misunderstands his words, and he ends up having to become a pirate. His pirate gang blackmails him for not wanting to be a pirate until he finally realizes he has to be one. In the end, everyone reaches a compromise, and the story turns out fine.
The tryouts will be conducted by Mrs. Goetsch and Mrs. Halsey, who will watch students perform one by one. Each student will read lines for a certain character he or she wants to be. Along with reading lines, each student will be asked to sing because of the musical portion of the play.
Pirates of Penzance will be performed Friday, March 30 and Saturday, March 31 at the downtown auditorium in Pierce.
