PHS Hosts Parent-Teacher Conferences

While students slept in, parents found out whether their children were behaving on Wednesday, September 23, at parent-teacher conferences.
Parent-teacher conferences allow teachers the opportunity to give parents in-person feedback on their student, communicate what they have been learning in class, and even set goals for their students.
“I wish that parents knew how important it is to be here, because it does really affect how teachers see parents’ role in the student’s academic life,” Danielle Goetsch, guidance counselor, said.
For students who are struggling in a class, parent-teacher conferences are a great opportunity for parents to learn how to help their student, and–if the student is present–allow the teacher time to discuss how they can improve.
“I spend a lot more time with that parent specifically…And setting a goal for what we want to achieve,” Kaleb Anderson, a history teacher, said.
This year, parent-teacher conferences were held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. To ensure the day went smoothly, National Honor Society students volunteered their time to help high school secretary Kim Nordby check parents in and provide snacks and coffee.
Attending parent-teacher conferences is a great way to ensure the success of students and provide some information about what they are learning and what parents can do to help.
