The Bluejays Get a Win After a Long Rainy Night

After a long, rainy night and two delays, the Bluejays picked up their fourth win of the season against the Arlington Eagles on Friday, September 18, with a 42-14 final score.
The game was a well-fought battle for the Bluejays and the Eagles. Pierce’s quarterback, sophomore Brody Scholting, completed seven passes throughout the game. Junior Konnar Jones had 106 yards, had two touchdowns, and 18 carries, and senior Gavin Lubischer had 49 yards and four receptions on the night.
“I personally thought that the kids stayed focused even through the two rain delays we had, and I just thought we played hard overall,” coach Tyler Legate stated. “Looking forward to future games, hopefully we just get a little better each day and just enjoy the grind.”
In the first quarter, senior Ethan Nordby scored the first touchdown of the game, making the score 7-0, and the PAT attempt by senior Tate Wales was good.
Starting the second quarter, senior Kain Ronnfeldt came up with a fumble recovery, followed by senior Cole DeBoer scoring a touchdown. By halftime, sophomore Burkley Collison scored a touchdown and the 2-point conversion was good on a pass from Scholting to sophomore Lucas Weber, making the halftime score 21-0.
“Scoring the touchdown before halftime gave us more momentum right before the quarter ended,” DeBoer said. “During the rain delays some of us rested and some of us studied plays. Overall, we were all just waiting for the coach to give us the okay for kickoff.”
In the third quarter, the Eagles scored their first touchdown, making the score 21-6.
In the last quarter, Jones scored two touchdowns and DeBoer added one while the Eagles added another touchdown. The Bluejays finished the night with a 42-14 victory.
