Bluejays Battle Against the GACC Bluejays
by Avery Brunckhorst

The Pierce Bluejays battled against the Guardian Angels Central Catholic Bluejays on Tuesday, September 8, taking a tough loss, falling 11-3.

“We need to improve on putting the ball in play versus good pitching. We did compete well for the first three innings, but we struggled at the plate to help our pitcher, Kaelyn,” coach Ryan Ohnoutka stated. “Going forward we need to limit strikeouts going forward and being able to beat future games.”

In the first inning, junior Maelee Hamilton had a powerful hit, scoring the Pierce Bluejays' first run of the game.

In the third inning, Hamilton hit her second home run of the season right to center field, bringing home senior Cailynn Gardner and making the score 5-3 in favor of GACC.

“It was good to hit another home run; we scored two runs from it so it made me feel good. Throughout the game, we did have hits, but they were just right to the GACC players; along with our fielding, it was good, but they were also hitting in the gaps, making them score more runs,” Hamilton states.

Be sure to catch the Bluejays in their next home game against Lakeview.
