New Students at PHS
Stella Riggert Moves from Zion to Pierce High School

Turning from Wildcat to Bluejay, Stella Riggert has transitioned from Zion Lutheran School to Pierce High, and though it was a big change, she has found that high school is not as scary as she thought.
S. Riggert, a freshman, is not completely unfamiliar with this transition, as her two older sisters, Claudia Riggert, who is now a sophomore in college, and Adrienne Riggert, a senior at PHS, both came from Zion to the high school their freshman year as well.
“Having older sisters who have already transitioned to high school has made my transition more comfortable and has helped me feel more prepared because they answered my questions and gave me advice,” S. Riggert said.
S. Riggert is involved in several activities at school, including volleyball, basketball, track, student council, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Outside of school, she enjoys camping and hanging out with her friends.
Her favorite teacher is Jessica Borg, her favorite class is Algebra, and she also notes that one of her favorite things about moving up to the high school is being able to see friends that she was not able to see at Zion.
Being the new student is never easy, but S. Riggert has had no trouble fitting in. Be sure to give her a warm welcome.
Pierce High Welcomes Abileen Bretschneider

Pierce High welcomes Abileen Bretschneider. Bretschneider originally attended St.Paul’s Lutheran School in Norfolk before coming to Pierce.
“The people that surround me, especially my softball teammates; I met them before,” is what she likes most about Pierce High.
“My favorite class right now is art,” Bretschneider said.
Bretschneider enjoys drawing, painting, and also spends some of her free time sketching. Outside of school, some of her other interests include horseback riding, farm work, and sports.
When she is not at school, Bretschneider enjoys watching shows, hanging out with her friends and siblings, going for walks, and driving around. Her family consists of her grandparents, Patti and Clete, her older sister Athena, her younger sister Azalea, and her dog Coco.
As the school year continues, Bretschneider is excited to win games, have fun, do well in school, and support her classmates at other sporting events. With new friends and teammates already helping her feel welcome, Bretschneider is looking forward to making the most of her years at Pierce High.
New Student Cecelia Babl

Pierce High would like to welcome freshman Cecelia Babl. Babl is 14 years old, and before transferring to Pierce, Babl attended Zion Lutheran School.
One of Babl’s favorite things about Pierce High so far is all of the new classes and people.
“So far, my favorite class is Intro to FCS because we get to learn about many subjects that I am interested in,” Babl said.
Outside of school, Babl enjoys painting, shopping, playing volleyball, watching movies, and listening to music.
Babl's family consists of her older sister, Scarlett, who is 19, and her younger brother, Stetson, who is 12. Babl also had two dogs, Koda and Charlie.
“Playing volleyball and going to the football games with friends,” are what Babl is most looking forward to this school year.

New Student Profile: Logan Kuether

This year, Pierce is welcoming many new students, including freshman Logan Kuether who ventured up the hill from Zion to the high school.
Kuether lives with his parents Nick and Mandy Kuether, and his little sister, Hope.
Some of his hobbies outside of school include playing video games and doing other tech-related activities.
He says that his favorite things about the high school so far are the people and how welcoming everyone is, and that is he most excited to just be a part of all of the activities. Although Kuether is not in any extracurriculars at the moment, he plans to join journalism next year.
