Select Few Perform With the Wayne State Honor Band
By: Mikenzie Lawrence
Some of Pierce's best band members performed with the Wayne State honor band on Saturday, January 24.
The high school band consists of two bands. The top band, called the wind ensemble, included Carter Sindt and Keaton Vavra. The symphonic band, the second high school band, included Trinity Christiansen, Brooke Wortman, and Carson Fevold.
The honor band also has a middle school division, and Pierce’s band director Michael Sindt was asked to direct the middle school band this year. The middle school band had the following Bluejays: Kennedy Konert, Dakota Lorenzen, Lillian Backus, Charlotte Prochaska, and Tehya Pasewalk. There were over 100 students in the middle school band.
All of the selected honor band members arrived in Wayne on January 24 to begin rehearsals. During their rehearsals, they practiced all day diligently and learned four new songs. They then performed later in the evening.
“I’m excited for the students to be able to play new music around new people. It’s just always neat to meet new people,” M. Sindt stated.
