What Tech has Come to these Days

By Parker Gaes

As most people may know, technology has advanced significantly in the world thanks to major brands such as Apple, Ray-Ban, and a new brand called Oura, which has introduced a new type of device, and it is a ring.

Jaya Wachholz, a recent Pierce High graduate, got the Oura ring recently.

“I really like it so far, it has a long battery life, it tracks my sleep and my recovery throughout the same night, and it keeps track of my heart health. It will tell me if I am stressed and suggest different activities and things I can do to relieve my stress,” Wachholtz said.

These devices can help with many different things, such as a person’s stress levels, how they slept that night, and their heart health.

Kolten Wragge, a sophomore at Pierce High, got the new Ray-Bans that can record and tell him whatever question he wants to ask.

“The glasses were a great gift, not just because of the cool features like videoing and taking photos and AI assistance, but because they can have my prescription lenses and blue light protection, so they are still practical. One cool fact that I like about the glasses is that their battery life lasts all day when I'm listening to music,” Wragge said.

Another great work of technology is the Apple watch. An Apple watch is another great way to track the heart rate and how you sleep at night, but another good factor for them is that they are great for working out, because anybody can track their movements and a whole bunch of other activities.

Deb Koehlmoos, a science teacher at Pierce High School, has an Apple watch, which she uses to check her heart rate and who calls her or texts her.

“I like it because if I'm not by my phone, I can see a call or a text from other people when I’m busy, but if I ever get hurt, I could ask Siri instead of an alert caller chain around my neck,” Koehlmoos said.

These different devices help a lot of people in a whole lot of ways that benefit their needs.
