Juniors Take on The PSAT

By Rylee Altwine

Getting selected to take the PSAT is a huge honor for many juniors. On Thursday, October 16, 13 juniors had the great honor to take the PSAT from 8-11 a.m.

Those who chose to take the test were Jada Brummels, Payton Ebmeier, Noah Fuerhoff-Gubbels, Maya Johnson, Jessa Kraft, Ethan Nordby, Josie Painter, Raleigh Pfeiffer, Aiden Pospisil, Haley Scholting, Isabelle Streff, Brandon Thomsen, and Aubrie Zimmerman.

“It was important to me to try my best and to get a chance for the scholarships. The most difficult part of the test was focusing, since we were sitting there for two hours straight. There were two parts with a break in between, one hour for the first section and one hour for the second section,” Kraft stated.

This test serves as a practice test for the SAT. It helps students identify academic strengths and weaknesses, and acts as a qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship Program for high- achieving juniors.

“It was an honor to be picked for the test because I know only the top students in the junior class are chosen, and I was glad I had the opportunity to take it. The most difficult part of the test for me was how much harder the second sections got. It took us about 2 and a half hours to take the test. Since they were timed, we all finished around the same time,” Streff stated.
