Girls Golf Swings Away for Second Time at Wayne
By Lawson Zierke
The Pierce girls golf team traveled to Wayne to compete for the second time this season on Thursday, September 25, and Rylee Altwine was the lowest scorer on the team, coming up just shy of the gold, shooting an 85, earning herself a second place medal for the Jays.
“I thought there were glimpses of great golf. Now we just need to see a whole round of great golf. Overall, we did ok, but we need to finish. When we finish we will be in a great position as a team,” coach Jason Freudenburg said.
Other competitors for the Jays were juniors Addison Frye and Brailey Jensen, as well as sophomores Brooke Podony and Alyvia Marks. Frye shot a 111, Podony recorded a 114, Marks finished with a 123, and Jensen ended her day with a 131. The team overall shot a 433.
“I think we did really well. Personally, I thought that all of us struck the ball pretty good,” Marks said. “We placed 6th as a team out of 15 teams. It was a beautiful day out with not much wind. It was a great day for golf.”
