District Track

The Girls Track Take on Districts at Blair

The Pierce High girls track team ventured off to Blair on Tuesday May 13, where district B-3 track was held, and at districts Pierce qualified nine for state. 

Qualifying individually for state were Jessa Kraft and Kylie Dvorak in the discus, Dvorak in shot put, Claudia Riggert in high jump, Zoey Ebmeier in the 1600-meter run and Skylar Scholting in the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles. The 4x800 and 4x400 relays also qualified for state. 

In the running events the girls had finalists in the hurdles, the mile, discus, shot put, high jump and the relays.

For the 100-meter hurdles, S. Scholting got fourth with a time of 15.72. 

In the 300 hurdles S. Scholting got fourth again with a time of 48.58.

In the 1600, Ebmeier got third, running the race in 5:35.74, setting a personal record.

For the relays, Aislyn Moeller, Abigail Cone, S. Scholting, and Hadleigh Collison got second in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:07.71. 

In the girls 4x800 relay, Moeller, Haley Scholting, Cone, and Collison finished in second place with a time of 9:54.12.

“We had two pole vaulters that had personal best, so it's always very nice to end the season with that achievement,” coach Gary Shada stated, in reference to Jada Johnson and Evelyn Skrdla who both hit the 7-06 mark.

In the field events, discus thrower Kraft nailed second with a throw of 132-06, Dvorak got third with a throw of 125-08, and Raleigh Pfeiffer finished fifth with a throw of 112-04.

I think I placed well, and I am happy with it, but there is always room for improvement,” Kraft, a sophomore, stated. 

In shot put, Dvorak got third with a throw of 36-11, and Pfeiffer got fourth with 36-02.5. 

High jumper Riggert got sixth with a jump of 5-01. 

State track qualifiers compete at Omaha Burke on Wednesday and Thursday, May 21 and 22.


Pierce Makes Strong Showing in District Track

The Pierce varsity track team flew down to the track meet at Blair on May 13, at the district B-3 track meet. The boys medaled in a lot of events that they competed in that day. 

Pierce had four boys make it to state. Keaton Frazier is going to state for discus, Brenden Bolling is going to state for two events, the 800-meter and the one mile race. Kendall Shada made it for the 3200-meter race, and Ryder Theisen made it for triple jump and is sitting third in the state. 

Bolling placed first in the 800-meter race, which qualified him for state with a time of 1:56.83. He set a personal record for the season with this time.

Bolling also placed extremely well in the mile, getting second place and qualifying for state with a time of 4:45.42. Also medaling in the 1600-meter run was Shada, who claimed fourth with a time of 4:47.99.

Shada was the only boy from Pierce who made it in the 3200-meter race, with a time of 10:54.26.

“I think the team did alright, I'm happy with what I performed in the mile, but I need to fix my placing and get better and keep practicing and making improvements,” Shada stated. 

Thiesen and Parker Gaes ran the 300-meter hurdles–Thiesen with a personal record time of 42.22 finished in fifth place, and Gaes with a time of 43 seconds flat, medaled in sixth place. 

Kaiden FritzGavin LubischerAiden PospisilKonnar Jones ran the 4x100 relay and got sixth with a time of 46.42.

Frazier threw discus, with a throw of 150-08, giving him third place in all.

Gaes competed in high jump with a jump of 5-09, giving him fourth place.

Thiesen got sixth in long jump, with a jump of 20-10.75.

Thiesen also placed in triple jump with a jump of 44-03.50, giving him first place. 

“The boys had a lot of personal records, and hopefully we are ready for the state track meet,” throwing coach Kaleb Anderson said.

The next track meet is at Burke for state track. The Jays will leave early in the morning on Tuesday to travel to Omaha.
