Boys Track Places Fourth at Norfolk Catholic Invitational

The Pierce Bluejays attended the Norfolk Catholic Invitational on Thursday, May 8, where they ended up placing fourth with 81 points. 

In the 200-meter dash, Hayden Bauer placed sixth with a time of 24.25. 

Brenden Bolling placed first, running a 4:32.93 in the 1600-meter run, and teammate Kendall Shada finished second with a time of 4:48.15. 

Placing third, Ryder Theisen ran a 42.22 in the 300-meter hurdles. Parker Gaes placed fourth with a time of 43.58.

“I thought I did good in my events and I feel like as a team we did good also,” Gaes says. 

Placing first, the 4x800 relay team, consisting of Bolling, Shada, Jones, and Hayden Bauer, ran a time of 8:48.23.

In discus, Keaton Frazier placed fourth throwing a 135-06. Jax Bauer placed sixth with a throw of 130-06. 

“The boys had a lot of personal records and hopefully we are ready for the district track meet,” throwing coach Kaleb Anderson comments. 

Gaes placed first in high jump, jumping 5-11. Jumping 5-05, Sean Monroe placed sixth. 

In the long jump, Theisen placed first, jumping 20-11.00. 

Jumping 42-03.00, Theisen placed first in triple jump. 

The 4x400 relay team, consisting of Konnar Jones, Gaes, Caycen Ernst, and H. Bauer placed fourth with a time of 3:47.20.


Pierce Girls Race for First at Norfolk Catholic

The Pierce track team attended the Norfolk Catholic Invite on Thursday, May 8. The girls' team fell short of Norfolk Catholic and placed second overall with 114 points. 

Starting with the field events, in shot put, Raleigh Pfeiffer placed second and threw 37-07.50 while Kylie Dvorak got third with a throw of 35-08.

Throwing in discus, Jessa Kraft earned first place, throwing 128-10. Dvorak got second and threw 121-5, and lastly, Pfeiffer threw 114-10 and ended in third place. 

“The meet went okay, and it was a good meet to get out of the way before districts on Tuesday. The weather was nice, so overall it was a really great meet,” junior Kylie Dvorak stated.

In the high jump, earning first place, Claudia Riggert had a jump of 4-09.

Jumping in the long jump, Natalie Kosch got fifth place and jumped 14-09.

Moving onto the triple jump, Naomi Sullivan earned herself sixth place with a jump of 31-10.50.

Going onto running events, in the 400-meter run, Emily Endorf placed fourth with a time of 1:06.84.

Haley Scholting ran the 800-meter run and placed fourth. Her time was 2:39.76.

In the 1600-meter run, earning herself first place, Zoey Ebmeier ran 5:40.18, which was also a personal record.

Running in the 2-mile race, Isabelle Kuehler placed fourth with a time of 15:12.07.

Switching over to hurdles, in the 100-meter hurdles, Skylar Scholting ended with a time of 16:00 and received second place overall.

In the 300-meter hurdles, S. Scholting got second place again with a time of 48:49 and Grace Suckstorf ran 52:00 and got sixth place. 

Moving on to the relays, competing in the 4x100 team were Kosch, Abigail Cone, Hadleigh Collison, and Naomi Sullivan. The team got fourth place with an ending time of 54:39.

Aislyn Moeller, S. Scholting, Cone, and Collison placed first in the 4x400 relay with an overall time of 4:09.87, setting a meet record. 

Finally, the 4x800 relay team placed first with a time of 10:05.96. Moeller, H. Scholting, Cone, and Collison all contributed to the gold medal and the meet record that was set. 

“I feel like we competed really well in the track meet, especially in the heat, since we haven't had to compete in that type of heat yet,” H. Scholting exclaimed.

The next track meet will be held in Blair on Tuesday, May 13. This track meet is the district meet.
