Boys Basketball Out-Witted by the Ponca Indians

By Brody Coulter

The Pierce Boys basketball team migrated north last Saturday to Ponca High School for the second game of the season. The Bluejays fought hard but came up short 45-35.

The Bluejays scored nine points during the first quarter, followed by an unfortunate three point second quarter.

After the conclusion of halftime, the Bluejays fought hard, scoring 10 points in the third and 13 in the fourth. But ultimately were unable to prevail.

Payton Cederburg a fourth-year player says, “I felt we started off the game slow and by the time we got momentum it was too late. We need to figure out a way to start stronger to not play catch-up with teams the remainder of the season.”

Keaton Frazier, a junior on the boys basketball team, says, “I believe we can still be really good the rest the season. We need to work on a few key things such as confidence and playing on a varsity level, and we will be a great team.”

The boys basketball team plays Tuesday, December 17 against O’Neill at Pierce High School.
