The True Meaning Behind Christmas
By Brynn Schwartz
We all know that Christmas is known for gift opening, white fluffy snow on the ground, pretty Christmas lights, Santa Claus, and more but what is really the true meaning behind Christmas? Kids often see Christmas as a magical time filled with excitement, presents, and fun activities like decorating the tree and waiting for Santa Claus. Kids focus a lot on the joy and wonder of the holiday season.
“I like seeing where the elves are every morning and I like listening to Christmas music,” Harper Montgomery, a third grader said.
Adults, on the other hand, might view Christmas with a deeper sense of tradition and meaning. For many, it's a time for family gatherings, reflecting on the past year and the birth of Jesus for Christians.
Christmas is about love, generosity, and togetherness. It’s a time to reflect on the importance of family and friends, to cherish the moments spent with loved ones, and to extend kindness to those in need.
“The older I got, I enjoyed more of the little things, being able to spend time with my family and being able to give gifts,” sophomore Payton Montgomery said.
The spirit of giving, which is often highlighted through the exchange of presents, is a reminder of the joy that comes from selflessness and compassion.
Ultimately, the true meaning of Christmas lies in the values it promotes like love, generosity, and community. The essence of Christmas is about coming together, spreading joy, and making a positive impact on the lives of others.
