Girls Golf Take on West Holt Meet
By Payton Cederburg
On September 5, the girls golf team traveled to Atkinson-Stuart Country Club to compete in the West Holt meet, and the team collectively shot a 459 placing fifth.
“There were a lot of ups and downs,” head coach Jason Freudenburg states. “I’d like to see the girls more consistent going down the road.”
Individually, Rylee Altwine shot an 88, which earned her the runner-up honors at the meet. Veronica Orona ended with a 113. Soiyer Pfeiffer and Grace Behmer both finished with a 129. Brailey Jensen shot a 133.
“I’d like to see the team be more confident in all aspects of the game,” Altwine said when asked what she expects from her team.
The golfers will host the Pierce Invite on Saturday, September 14, at the Pierce golf course.
Home Golf Dual vs. O'Neill
By Cameron Kuehler
The Pierce girls golf team hosted their first golf dual of the year on September 3. At the end of the round, three Pierce golfers came out on top of the leaderboard.
Rylee Altwine, a junior, finished her round with a score of 45. Soiyer Pfeiffer and Veronica Orona finished right behind her with scores of 55 and 60.
Some things head coach Jason Freudenburg says the team needs to continue to improve on are consistent great ball contact and cutting out the little mistakes during the round. “The advantage of playing on your home course is that you play it every day in practice. There is more familiarity at your home course and that will always give you an advantage over other teams,” Freudenburg explains.
The golfers will host a full tournament at the Pierce Invite on Saturday, September 14, at the Pierce golf course.
