The Junior and Senior High Choir Perform their Pops Concert

By Chloe Bernhardt

The Pierce junior and senior high choirs held their final concert on Friday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m, which was a later time than usual to accommodate the elementary rescheduling their concert to the same night at 6.

Choir director, Amy Barnhill says, “Overall the concert went very well. The junior high improved a lot from the beginning of the year. There are some good singers in junior high, and I'm glad some of them will be joining the high school choir next year. The senior high sang the best I've heard them. I have some great leaders and hard workers in this group, and it showed at the district music contest and at the concert. We typically watch the videos of their performances to see what can be improved but also the things they did well on. It was a successful end of the year concert.”

The junior high sang three songs, “Best Day of My Life” arranged by Andy Beck, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” arranged by Roger Emerson, and “Rockin Robin" arranged by Tom Anderson.

The senior high sang four songs, “Seven Bridges Road” arranged by Kirby Shaw, “Sisi Ni Moja” arranged by Jacob Narverud, “Both Sides Now” arranged by Roger Emerson.

Barnhill gave letter awards, along with senior and senior recognition.

“I think that the concert went very smoothly. We went through all of our songs, and we were going to use sheet music for the concert, but we memorized it just in time,” sophomore Brianna Rundell comments. “Overall we did a really good job.”

After the awards and recognition the senior high sang their last song of the night, “You’re Welcome arranged by Mark Brymer.

Both choirs are directed by Barnhill and the accompanist is Celine Fehringer.
