The First Band and Choir Concert
By Lauren Ueding
On Monday, December 18, the junior high and high school band students hosted their holiday band and choir concert at 7 p.m. in the Pierce High gym.
The junior high choir started the concert by singing “Jingle Bell Rock” by Alan Billingsley and “Down, Down the Chimney” by Irv Rothenberg Winter Fantasy.
Then the junior high band played away after the choir and played the songs, “Let Heaven and Nature Sings,” “Christmas Canon,” and “Santa Barbarian.”
Next, the senior high choir showed their Christmas spirit by singing the songs, “Snow on Snow” by Jerry Estes, “Light a Candle on This Silent Night” by Glenda Franklin, and “A Very Merry Christmas” by Pinkzebra.
“Considering how much time we had to prep for it, it wasn’t as bad as the morning rehearsal. Overall, it was an excellent performance,” says choir member Breanna Lindstrom.
Then to finish the night off, the senior high band showed their Christmas spirit by playing the songs, “ Spirit of the Falcon,” “ Holiday Flutecake,” “Not So Silent Night” and “I Saw Three Ships.”
Then the choir and band came together while they sang and played “Santa is Coming to Town.” This song also asked for audience participation, as band director, Mike Sindt, took the microphone around the audience and held it out for people to sing into.
“For the amount of time we had, which was a couple of weeks, we did pretty good. Overall I think we did good,” says band member Jaime Sackville.
