Why is the Obsession for Fortnite Suddenly Back?

Most people aged 10 and up know of the game Fortnite. Even if people have not played it, they may have heard about it in the news, or heard other people talking about it. Fortnite is a player versus player (PVP) multiplayer game, which means people can invite friends to play the game over the internet and play against other people. PVP games mean people are fighting against other people to win the round.
Fortnite was developed by Epic Games and was released in 2017.
Epic Games splits their game Fortnite into different seasons, each with their own theme. When it reaches 10 seasons, it becomes a chapter. For example season one, chapter one is the first season one could possibly start to play the battle royale version. Now in November 2023 Fortnite has had three chapters and four seasons.
Fortnite has different game modes one can play. If someone wants to play alone, they would play solo; playing with one friend means a person will probably play duos; and if someone plays with three or four players they will either play trios or squads.
Many people decided to quit playing the game when they felt Epic Games was changing their game too much, and their active players decreased by millions. So how did the game all of a sudden become popular again?
The players who started to play early on may remember how fun the first few seasons were. Coming home from school, logging on Fortnite to play with friends.
“The new original Fortnite season is the best thing that has happened since Fortnite dropped,” says Amund Børud Pedersen, who has played the game since the start.
“When I first started playing Fortnite it felt like I discovered a whole new world filled with excitement, friendship and tactics. The new Fortnite season will forever have a special place in my heart,” says Georg Sørensen.
Fortnite just dropped a new season called Fortnite OG. OG stands for original, and the new season is supposed to be a throwback to the first few seasons of the game. The season will go on for four weeks. What happens after that is unknown. The first week players will be able to see the same map, the same weapons and the same abilities they had in season five in chapter one. The week after, players will be able to experience season six. From November 16, players will be able to experience season seven and eight in the same week. The map of season seven is filled with snow, and Christmas decorations.
From November 23-December 2 players will be able to play on the final map there was in chapter one. Players will play on the season X map, also known as the season 10 map. On December 2 the OG Fortnite season will end.
For many it is nostalgia, and for others this is completely new. The new Fortnite season has sparked an obsession amongst teenagers all over the world. The duo partners Peyton Kruntorad and Chase Rasmussen had this to say about the new Fortnite season. “When I saw the map for the first time it brought tears to my eyes” Kruntorad says.
“After a long day of school I just go home, fire up the computer and play with the boys. I'm trying to go pro,” comments Rasmussen.
The game that dropped in 2017 sparked an obsession in a lot of teenage hearts, and now players can finally play the game they once loved again.
