Alumni Spotlight: Chad Theisen

by Raegan Theisen

Chad Theisen, Pierce High alumni, graduated with the class of 1997. When Chad was in high school, he participated in football for four years and track for four years.

Some awards Chad received in track were Athlete of the Meet at the Norfolk Classic 1996 and 1997 and the 1997 athlete of the year at Pierce High. In his junior year, he placed second in the 100, 200, and 4x100 at the state track meet in 1996. He also placed second in the 100 and first in the 200, 400, and 4x400 at the state track meet in 1997. Chad scored 38 of the team’s 44 points in the state meet of 1997. Chad held the school record in the 100, 200, 400, 4x100, and 4x400. Theisen still holds three of those five records today.

“Chad was a fun person and great to hang around with,” said one of Chad’s high school friends, Ryan Volker.

Chad says his favorite memories from high school were “spending time and having fun with his friends.” His original plan for his career after high school was to work at a bank. But instead, Chad completed his bachelors degree at Doane University and then completed his associates degree at Southeast Community College in construction management.

Chad attended Doane University for 4 years, and while he was there, he competed in track for four years and soccer for two years as well.

During college, he worked for multiple employers building custom homes. He now owns his own company, Chad Theisen Construction.

Chad married Laura Schmit and now has three children; Raegan, Ryder, and Rayce.

When asked about his favorite adult memories, Chad stated, “Getting together with family and friends to watch the Nebraska Huskers on Saturdays is one of my favorite things to do.”
