On Tuesday, May 11, Pierce High jazz band traveled to University of Nebraska at Omaha to participate in the annual jazz fest.
Instructor Mike Sindt states, “It was a great way to end the year being able to play at the Holland Center for Performing Arts, having top of the line clinicians, and hearing a great concert. I am very proud of their performances and achievements this year.”
The musicians given the outstanding musicianship awards were Travis Emory on piano, Shawn Rinkel on trumpet, Peyton Wieting on baritone saxophone, Sarah Miller on alto saxophone, Mason Sindelar on trombone, and Alexus Sindelar on trumpet.
The band as a whole was awarded a superior rating by a panel of judges.
At the end of the day, the band was treated to a performance from esteemed trumpet player Etienne Charles.
Senior Mason Sindelar states, “The jazz festival was amazing and a great experience for us. We watched an amazing trumpet player, Entienne Charles. He taught us all a lot about what it means to be a musician and what music really means.”
This was the final jazz band performance of the year.
