Softball Takes a Tough Loss
by Kaila Spieker
The Pierce Lady Jays varsity softball team swung into the new season by playing NEN Vipers,
which is a team composed of Wisner-Pilger, Pender, Bancroft-Rosalie, and Lyons-Decatur Northeast on Thursday, August 20, at Pender.
To start off, the Pierce team had a tough loss with a score of 13-1. Sophomore Addison Sporleder went 2-2 with a single and a double, sophomore Madison Altwine went 1-1 with a single, and an RBI. Freshman, Hayle DeBoer walked once and scored the lone run.
Coach Marika VonSeggern says, “Our batting was one of our most successful parts as a whole team because we kept up with them the first couple innings, and when things weren’t going our way, they still kept trying their best and doing what they could.”
You can catch the Lady Jays at their home opener on Thursday, August 27 versus North Bend.
