By Sarah Fenton

After college and other teaching, she came right back home to Pierce and is now a 4th grade teacher at Pierce Elementary school. Fleer says, “I loved doing activities and projects with my friends in school. I also really enjoyed my teachers. They were very supportive and always pushed me to my highest potential. I feel very fortunate for every opportunity I had throughout school.”

Her best friend from high school, Amy Venteicher, remembers Fleer and says, “There are so many incredible things about Amy. The one quality that sticks out to me the most is her kindness. Amy truly cares about her friends, her family, and each and every one of her students. She makes a point to sincerely get to know everybody and develop a connection with them. She never has a negative things to say about anybody!”

Flashback to Kelsi Krienert

by McKenna Shonka

Let’s travel back into May 2002 at Pierce High and take a look at where Kelsi (Warneke) Krienert is now!

Activites Kelsi was involved in during her high school years were volleyball, basketball, track, girls letter club, student council, Spanish club, national honor society, peer tutor, St. Joseph’s youth group, quiz bowl, and academic team.

Things Kelsi loved during high school were spending time with her best girlfriends and playing sports. Her small group bible study was another thing she loved doing in high school. She felt she got such good advice that always directed me back to Jesus. It helped her make better choices after she’d mess up.

Kelsi explains, “If I could go back and redo anything I would make a much greater effort to get to know more students and classmates in greater depth. I would also try to make more friends, especially those people who had different interests than mine.”

Midland Lutheran College was the college Kelsi attended after high school. Kelsi went to school there for 4 years to get her bachelor of science in nursing. Then she transferred to the University of Nebraska Medical Center for 4 years to get her masters of science degree in nursing. She is currently working as a family nurse practitioner.

In high school, she worked as an assistant at a photography studio. Then she worked as a certified nursing assistant at a small rural hospital and then at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She had various jobs in nursing including cardiac step-down floor in the hospital, a private family practice clinic, and an internal medicine specialty clinic. At the moment Kelsi is working as a family nurse practitioner in Pierce.

Kelsi has been married to her husband, Adam Krienert, for 14 years and raised her three children in Pierce. Meredith (10), Maverick (8), and Macksen (4).

Older sister of Kelsi, Kristie Lubischer comments, “She was very smart. She enjoyed lots of activities including sports, journalism, church activities, and hanging out and having fun with her friends. She was a very motivated student, and she did so good in high school she ended up graduating at the top of her class.”

Pierce High Graduate Brad Lubischer

by Faith Lubischer

Let’s take a trip back in time to look at the life of a Pierce high graduate in the class of 1992, Brad Lubischer. Brad transferred from Norfolk Catholic to Pierce his freshman year.

When asked what his favorite high school memory was Brad stated, “State championship game played in Pierce is best memory. Very cold night, leave the locker room at the auditorium, cleats pounding on the sidewalk to the field, bleachers hauled in from every town around, snow moved off the field with tractors, we walk in through the end zone, 30 people deep standing to watch the game. We played very hard but could not get the win.”

Throughout high school Brad participated in golf, football, basketball, baseball, boys letter club, and he was also the class president his senior year. Matt Moeller, close friend of Brad, says one of his favorite high school memories with Brad was, “bottle rocket fights in the Hadar neighborhood.”

After graduating high school, Brad attended Wayne State College for two years to get all of his general studies completed. Brad then started working at Norfolk Iron and Metal and has now been working there for 28 years as a Maintenance Supervisor.

Brad started his family marrying Kristie (Warneke) Lubischer in 1995, and they have been married for the past 24 years. The two have three kids which are Dillon (20), Faith (16), and Gavin (10).

Flashback to Brad Marks

by Brynnlee Marks

Let’s travel back in time 28 years ago and see where Brad Marks is now. Brad Marks was a graduate of 1991. He was involved in FFA. Brad had a love for Pierce High because it was a great atmosphere, and he enjoyed hanging out with friends.

If he could redo anything in high school Brad said he would, “get better grades and study more.”

After high school, Brad worked at Wee Town part-time. After working there he got a full-time job working at Lutz Farms. He currently works for Dean Asmus and on his own.

Brad married Audrey Marks and they stayed in Pierce to raise their four kids.

Former classmate Staci (Bockelman) Gaes restates one of her memories by saying, “I remember Brad in Home-ec class when we had to make blueberry pancakes and they burned badly… very badly.”
