Pierce High Broadcasts on 106 KIX

On Friday, December 2, Abe Schoenherr of 106 Kix checked in with various students and staff around Pierce High that participate in different clubs, sports, and classes for his morning show that is broadcasted on 106.7.
Abe’s morning show visited as part of the High School Headlines tour. He gave an inside look into Pierce High School to tell people about what our students and staff do throughout the first semester before Pierce High closes in on Christmas break. Schoenherr also travels around to different schools that participate in the High School Headlines program, in which schools record and submit 2-minute broadcasts from their schools on a weekly basis. So far, he has visited Battle Creek and Osmond.
Starting off the morning, Ellie Peters and Rose Graham represented the journalism crew as they were interviewed by Abe. The girls explained how their class works throughout the semester and what they do to keep themselves busy. Next, Abe was introduced to Pierce High School’s fitness program. Junior Aguilar and Breane Hoffman talked about their fitness program they do every day at school. The two also filled Abe in on Bluejays Committed, which is a club put on by trainer Adam Hervert that shows high school students how to live a better and healthier lifestyle. Onto winter sports, head wrestling coach Tyler Legate chatted about his team and their first dual that happened the evening before. Hailey Race and Caleb Sullivan also spoke about the startup of their basketball seasons, which also began on Thursday, December 1. The next club that broadcasted was the robotics team. Leader of the group Treva Dostal and participants Alex McKeown and Ethan Kuether discussed their robotics meet a few weeks ago and what they are doing to prepare for the next meet. From band and choir, Brianna Furstenau, Sidney Erickson, and Bryce Bierman talked about their music performance coming up on December 15. Representing FCA, Melinda Stelling, the FCA sponsor, Annie Johnson, and Emily Simmons informed Abe about what goes on on Wednesday nights at the Stellings and what they do for the community and school. Talking about History Day, government teacher Brenda Fleecs and students Dillon Lubischer and Walker Raabe explained how they are working hard for their upcoming presentation over their subject they chose. Janae Arens and Derek Ross filled Abe in on the recent season of one-act to close the show. They chatted about their performance of MacBad.
