Spread the Word to End the Word
Spread the Word to End the Word

On Wednesday, March 4, many PHS students and staff took the pledge to end the use of the r-word to celebrate National Spread the Word to End the Word Day. With the help of a few FCCLA members and teacher Gary Shada, this day was a success.
During this day, students could take action and sign a pledge online stating they would stand up to others who used the r-word. Students then watched a video at lunch and had the option to take the pledge and get their picture taken with friends and play games.
Putting this event together this year were Gary Shada and FCCLA members, Elizabeth Harris, Ellie Peters, Sydney Slater, Kiley Bierman, Ashley Pedersen, Stephanie Rinkel, Rose Graham, Rachel Fenton and Cassandra Rinkel.
Shada said, ”It was nice to see a lot of junior high students participate in the activities that we had; I would have liked to see more of our older students participate in it because they are more of a role models for our younger students.”
