Chili Cook-off Contest Held in Nutrition & Foods Class
Students in the Nutrition and Food class recently participated in a chili cook-off. Students worked together in small groups and created a chili soup. The soups were then judged. Here are the results and the recipes. You may wish to try one of them.

1 ½ - 2 pounds browned hamburger
1 14.5 oz Mexican Recipe Delmonte Stewed tomatoes
1 14.5 oz Italian Recipe Delmonte Stewed Tomatoes
1 10 ¾ oz Tomato Soup
1 28 oz Bush’s Country Style Beans
Brown Sugar, Honey, Chili Powder to taste
Velveeta Cheese
Brown meat, drain fat off meat. In a blender purify stewed tomatoes and tomato soup. Add can of beans. Add chili powder, brown sugar & honey to desired taste. Heat & Enjoy.

Wonderiffic White Chicken Chili: Colby Krueger, Shelton Dvorak & Alek Flesner
1 bag Chicken Breast
4c. water
8 chicken bouillon cubes
½ c. diced onion
2 cans great northern beans (drained)
1c. sour cream
2c. milk
8 oz. pepper jack cheese
1tsp. salt
1 tsp. dried oregano
2 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. chili
pepper
1 tsp. chives
2 tsp. garlic powder
- Cook chicken breast, water, chicken bouillon cubes, and onions in saucepan until chicken is done.
- Put beans, milk, salt, oregano, cumin, chili pepper, chives, and garlic powder in pot.
- Pour chicken contents into pot, remove chicken and cut it up. Then put in pot.
- Heat to a simmer and add sour cream, pepper jack cheese, and milk.

Chuck Norris Chili Recipe - Devin, Tyler P, and Mason’s Chili recipe
1 pound ground beef
1 (14.5 ounces) can stewed tomatoes
1 (15 ounces) can tomato sauce
1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans
1 ½ cups water
1 pinch of chili powder
1 pinch of garlic powder
Salt and pepper for taste
In a large saucepan over medium heat, sauté meet until it is browned. Add the stewed tomatoes with juice, tomato sauce, beans, and water. Season with the chili powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, to cover and let simmer for 15 minutes.

1 lb hamburger
31 oz. can pork and beans
16 oz. hot chili beans
15 oz. chili beans
sliced or chopped mushrooms
32 oz. jar of tomatoes
½ quart jar of water
1 packet taco seasoning
1 packet chili seasoning
1 onion
4 tablespoon of ground up habanero peppers
- brown hamburger
- add tomatoes and water first
- then add all of your other ingredients
- cook on low for an hour

Ingredients
- 1 pound coarsely ground beef chuck
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon dried sage leaves
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1/2 shallot, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, seeded, chopped
- 1/2 jalapeno pepper, halved, seeded chopped
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon ground chipotle pepper, or to taste
- Salt, to taste
- 1 cup Gallo burgundy wine
- 1 (16 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (16 ounce) cans black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (16 ounce) bag corn chips
Directions
In a medium, hot soup pot brown the chuck with the thyme, sage and garlic. When browned remove and drain beef. Set aside. In the same pot heat the oil and add the onion, garlic, shallot, red bell pepper and jalapeno. Saute until vegetables begin to brown, about 7 to 10 minutes. Add chili powder, cayenne pepper, chipotle pepper, salt and cook, stirring, until spices begin to stick to the pan. Add Gallo burgundy and cook until liquid is reduced by 1 half. Add tomatoes and bring to a boil. Stir in beans and reserved beef and simmer, partially covered, over medium low heat for 1 hour. Serve with corn chips. Chili may be made, up to 2 days in advance and kept covered and refrigerated. Reheat to serve.
Beano Chili – White Boys Chili created by Tyler Jones, Alex Mandl, and Brook Keller

Ingredients
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, crushed
1 (4 ounce) can chopped green chili peppers
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon dried oregano
2 (14.5 ounce) cans chicken broth
3 cups chopped cooked chicken breast
3 (15 ounce) can white beans
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack Cheese
Directions:
Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium-low heat. Slowly cook and stir the onion until tender. Mix in the garlic, green chili peppers, cumin, oregano and cayenne. Continue to cook and stir the mixture until tender, about 3 minutes. Mix in the chicken broth, chicken and white beans. Simmer 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove the mixture from heat. Slowly stir in the cheese until melted. Serve warm.

List of Ingredients: 1lb hamburger, 2qt tomato juice, 2 cans chili beans, 1can light kidney beans, 1 can dark kidney beans, 1 package of chili seasoning,
Directions for Preparation: Brown hamburger in pan. Add browned hamburger and beans and spices to crock pot. Stir. Add tomato juice. Cook all day in crock pot on high until it boils, then on low. Serve with crackers.
