Marching Band is Champion at Schuyler
The Pierce High marching band traveled to Schuyler on Saturday, October 16 to compete in the fifth annual Schuyler Central High Marching Band Festival. Ten schools competed, and Pierce’s band won first place in Class B and overall grand champion to bring home five trophies: superior ranking, first in Class B, best flagline, best drumline, and overall championship.
In class A Schuyler received first place. Logan View was first in class C, and O’Neill received best drum major.
The following are the ten schools that competed and their ratings: Logan View a one (superior), Bishop Neumann a one, O’Neill a one, Bennington a two (excellent), Pierce a one, David City Aquinas a two, East Butler a two, Neligh-Oakdale a two, Madison a two, and Schuyler a one.
The Pierce High Marching Band will perform on Saturday, October 23 in the State Marching Band Competition at Seacrest Field in Lincoln at 3:30 p.m.
Pierce’s band director Mr. Mike Sindt said that it was a great day for the band, that the members, flagline, and drumline had put in a lot of extra hours to develop their skills, and that it was nice to see the work rewarded at the contest.
Drum major Zach Halsey said that he had expected the band to do well at Schuyler because, “The band had a great week,” and he added, “The product of that was really good.”
