FCCLA Leads First Meeting of the Year

Pierce High’s FCCLA chapter started the year with their kickoff meeting on Monday, August 20, welcoming new and returning members to have a meal, discuss how the year will go, and have fun playing games.
The meeting began with everyone grabbing food, which included a nacho bar and even desserts. This year, FCCLA sponsor Mrs. Angie Brodersen prepared a slide show to guide the meeting along so that not only the officers knew what to do, but everyone else did, as well.
Once everyone had eaten, Mrs. Brodersen and this year’s officers commenced the meeting. The officers introduced themselves as well as their officer position for the year.
This year’s officers are president Sydney Erickson, vice president/District 8 rep. Alexis Schnoor, secretary Sydney Slater, treasure Lucas Gnat, historian Mackenzie Richmond, STAR chairperson/public relations Elizabeth Harris, co-community service chairman Alexus Sindelar, and Power of One chairman Mason Sindelar. After introductions, everyone stood and recited the FCCLA creed.
Mrs. Brodersen went on to explain what FCCLA will be like for the year. This year, she has converted about 90% of the work to digital format. This will allow all the members or officers to be able to access anything from their computers as well as help the group avoid losing things. Mrs. Brodersen even stated, “The officers are really treating this as a student-run organization. They’re really stepping up this year.”
Brodersen and president Sydney Erickson also went over the events for the year, including District Leadership Conference (DLC), Peer Ed retreat, Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR), and Fall Leadership Workshop (FLW). Everyone, especially Mrs. Brodersen, showed excitement for the year and everything that will happen this year.
The next FCCLA meeting will be Monday, September 24, at 7 p.m.
