Speech Teams Wins Boone Central Invite
The speech team competed in the Boone Central speech invitational on Saturday, January 20. The varsity team came home with a championship, and the novice team finished in 3rd place.
Individually for the varsity speakers, Pierce had three champions with Katrina Meier in Extemporaneous Speaking, Klarissa Norris in Informative Speaking, and the troupe of Abigail White, Jaden Gleason, Janae Arens, Dylan Delka, and Macie Timm in Oral Interpretation of Drama. Sydney Erickson placed 2nd in Informative Speaking, and A. White placed 3rd. In Humorous Prose, Peter Halsey placed 2nd, and Maiya Baumann and Janae Arens tied for 6th. In Duet Acting, the duo of Arens and Dylan Delka placed 3rd, and the duo of Halle Ross and Kiley Bierman placed 6th. Bierman was also 4th in Extemporaneous Speaking. Meier was 3rd in Entertainment, while Timm placed 6th. Meier also placed 4th in Persuasive Speaking. In Serious Prose, Elizabeth Harris placed 5th.
For the novice speakers, Mark Venteicher was 2nd in Informative Speaking, and Tanner Kuper was 6th. Dalton Delka and Shelby White placed 3rd in Duet Acting. In Humorous Prose, Kaleb Zamora placed 4th. Abygail Streff was 4th in Extemporaneous Speaking and 5th in Poetry.
The speech team will travel to Hartington for their next meet on Saturday, January 27.
