The Bluejays crowned Winter Royalty king and queen Saturday, January 13. Seniors Amber Albrecht and Taylor Oestreich were crowned as royalty, and coronation was followed by a dance put on by the student council.

For coronation, the queen candidates were Albrecht, Brianna Furstenau, Annie Johnson, Carly Sutherland, and Sidney Zimmerer. The king candidates were Oestreich, Dysen Roth, Braydan Waldner, Ashton Wragge, and Cody Yawn.

I was shocked, because I never pictured myself winning since there were so many amazing candidates,” said queen Amber Albrecht. “My favorite part of the dance was probably seeing everyone dressed up and having a fun, relaxing evening.”

King Taylor Oestreich was equally surprised, saying, “I was pretty surprised at first, but after the initial shock I was honored that my peers voted for me as king.”

After the coronation was the dance. This year’s theme was Cowboy Christmas. The student council provided a cake, punch, and water for those in attendance.
