PHS Sophomore Klarissa Norris attended the Nebraska Music Educators Association (NMEA) All-State music in Lincoln on Friday, November 17, and Saturday, November 18.
Norris and other students who auditioned for All-State band and choir made a one-time recording in order to be selected. Norris auditioned against many flute players across the state and was selected for the band.
Rehearsals were held at the UNL campus beginning Friday, November 17, and continuing on Saturday in preparation for the concert Saturday evening in the Lied Center. They performed the songs “Gandalf,” “A Fraternal Prelude,” “Peterloo,” and “Carnival.”
Clinician Dr. Neidlinger led the All-State music group. She is the conductor of the wind symphony at the Depaul University College.
“It was a truly indescribable experience,” said Norris. “Working with all those people and the director was amazing, and hopefully I’ll be able to do it again someday.”
Band teacher Michael Sindt said, “I am very proud to have had Karissa make it into such a prestigious ensemble. She represented our school very well.”
