Mason Sindelar Named to Cross Country All-State Team

Mason Sindelar was named to the Nebraska Coaches Association All-State cross country team recently as a result of his fine performance at the 2017 state cross country meet that was held in Kearney on Friday, October 20. Mason finished in 6th place with a time of 17:30.

There are two all-state teams that a runner can be named to. Super-state is achieved if runners have one of the top 20 times all-class at the state meet, and the next 15 fastest times (all-class) are all-state. There was only one runner from class C to make super-state, and only six runners (including Sindelar) were all-state. The top 15 finishers at the state meet medal, but not all of them automatically make one of the two all-state teams.

Sindelar also made school history this year by becoming the first male freshman runner to place in every meet, and the first male freshman runner to place at the state meet. Only Bill Kroupa (state champion 1961 and 1963) and Ryan Otto (state runner-up 2000) have placed higher at the state meet than Sindelar.
