Fourth Graders Erupt Volcanoes
On a warm and sunny Friday afternoon in September, Pierce Elementary fourth graders erupted their homemade volcanoes. Some used vinegar and baking soda to create a bubbling effect. A few chose 'elephant toothpaste', which was a mixture of warm water, yeast, dish soap, food coloring, and hydrogen peroxide. A continuous foaming effect was made with those ingredients. Most groups chose to explode their volcanoes using Mentos dropped into a bottle of Diet Coke for a violent eruption. Every group had success!!
