Amy and Payton, Students of the Week.

Last week at Pierce High, the students of the week were Amy Venteicher and Payton Wragge. These two were chosen because of an outstanding accomplishment each has made.

Amy and Payton each applied for the Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP). In the fall of 2012, Amy will be attending Wayne State College to become a pharmacist. Payton will be attending Kearney as a biology major; that is a pre-medicine course.

Both seniors applied and then were interviewed, and later on they found out that they were accepted for RHOP and KHOP. Receiving the RHOP and KHOP opportunities is a big responsibility. They each need to maintain good grades throughout college and work very hard. At the end of their college careers, Amy and Payton will be guaranteed an acceptance into the medical school for their specialties.

Being chosen as a Student of the Week is a great achievement because many other students look up to the individuals. Not only one, but many staff members nominated Payton and Amy for Student of the Week. Principal Mark Brahmer said Payton and Amy are students of the week not only because of achieving the RHOP program, but also because of their consistent work ethic over the years. He added that they take tremendous pride in their classroom performance.
