Dancers Compete At State Dance Competition
Pierce High’s dance team traveled to Grand Island on Saturday, February 18 to compete at State Dance and Cheer. The dance team took seven dancers to Grand Island, led by the sponsor, Mrs. Noelle Sindelar. The seven girls who participated were Amy Venteicher, Katie Atkins, Robyn Werner, MaKayla Douglass, London Sindelar, Paige Spieker, and Hannah Higgins.
The dance team had been preparing for this day for many weeks. Two to three days of every week the dancers began practice at 6:00 a.m., and the practice would last until 7:15 or 7:20.
At state, the dancers performed in small group pom and small group jazz. Before each performance, the dancers got a short time to practice and prepare for the performance. Overall in pom the Pierce girls placed third out of twelve teams. Overall in jazz, they placed fourth out of six. Performing in front of thousands of people, every single dancer was sure to come out with a smile and to leave with a smile.
Junior Katie Atkins, said, “It was a good season, we worked really hard, and we should be proud of our accomplishments.”
