Can you believe we celebrated the 100th day of school last Friday? Time is flying by as our teachers and students work toward meeting their goals for this term. The State Writing Assessment will be administered to the fourth graders next week. They have diligently prepared for this test and are ready to write!
Although February is a short month, it is packed with lots of activities. First on the schedule is the P.A.T.S. snack sale that will be held on Friday, February 3. Students may bring a quarter to purchase a treat that afternoon. The Student Council is sponsoring the "Pennies for Patients" project to raise money for the Nebraska Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. That project begins on Wednesday, February 1, and runs until February 24. Our P.A.T.S. organization will begin its annual cookie dough sales on February 15, with all orders due by February 28. We will have NO SCHOOL on Friday, February 17. There will be a P.A.T.S. meeting on Monday, February 27, at 6:30 p.m. in the elementary library. The change in date is necessary because we have Parent-Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, February 28. There will be a 1:15 p.m. dismissal that day.
Kindergarten Registration is scheduled for Monday, April 16, at 6:30 p.m. All students who will be 5 years old by July 31, 2012, are age-eligible to attend kindergarten. That date was formerly October 15, but the law changing it goes into effect this year. Children who will be four years old by July 31, are eligible to attend our pre-school. NO five year olds who are age-eligible for kindergarten will be accepted into pre-school unless their Individualized Education Program call for it. Please stop in to pick up registration forms for either kindergarten or pre-school or contact Irene at 302-329-4302 and she will send them to you.
