FFA Holds New Member Meeting
The Pierce FFA Chapter held their new member picnic on Monday August 30 at the high school. The meeting started with a few games like dodge ball and volleyball. After the games there was a supper of Wragge dogs, chips, and bars. The officers started the meeting with opening ceremonies and talked about state and national FFA conventions, official dress, and community clean-up.
Approximately forty members and prospective members came to the meeting. Fourteen current members were among those present. They told prospective members about official rules, the FFA’s community service projects, and all the events and activities FFA members enjoy.
There was a lot of interest in national FFA convention, which will be October 20-23 in Indianapolis, IN. For state convention, members must be in an ag class or have a project for building an ag-related proficiency.
The FFA will again lead the community clean-up project on September 23. All members will also help with Threshing Bee cleanup on September 13, along with other projects for the benefit of the community.
FFA president Haley Oestreich led the meeting. Other officers are Amy Fleer, vice president; Lexy Nuesch, secretary; Colby Krueger, treasurer; Cody Schulz, reporter; Morgan Siedschlag, parliamentarian, and Shane Thayer, sentinel. Clayton Lienemann is a junior officer.
