Concert Band Performance
by Ren Gleason
The Pierce High, as well as 5th and 6th grade students, performed in a band concert Friday, April 29.
The evening started off with the fifth graders performing “Popcorn Prelude” and “Hot Cross Buns/Let’s Rock.”
Next were the sixth graders with “Minor Rock” and “The Clumsy Clown.”
After that, the junior high band performed “Epic Venture” and “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
Ending it off that night, the 9-12 grades performed three songs, “Amaretto Roca,” “American Riversongs,” and “I’m Still Standing.”
The combined group of 6-12 bands performed “The Middle.”
Two awards were also given out, the main award was given to Shawn Zellmer called the John Philip Sousa Award, and the runner-up was Zachary Price, who received the Patrick S. Gilmore Award.
Price had to say this afterward, “I was not at all expecting to get it. But, evidently, the band thought I deserved it.”
The jazz band will have a final concert on Thursday, May 12 at 7 p.m.
