Bluejay Boys Return to the Basketball Court
by Autumn Lambrecht
This year for the 2021-2022 basketball season, the varsity Bluejay boys basketball team is built up of all sophomores and juniors. The team has two returning letter winners, who include juniors Benjamin Brahmer and Abram Scholting.
Brahmer comments, “Well I’m looking forward to this year because we have lots of growth that’s going to happen as a team because we have no seniors and lots of juniors and sophomores with little varsity experience. “
Head coach Michael Emory adds, “I’m excited to see how we can fill roles from loading 10 seniors. We have a group that has played together for a long time.”
Pierce has a total of 15 boys out this year, a team full of only juniors, sophomores, and freshmen.
“This season is going to be filled with surprises due to the lack of experience and seniors, but I’m excited to see how we perform with these challenges,” said junior Jacksen Wachholtz.
The Bluejays have their first game of the season on Thursday, December 2, at Howells-Dodge. The first home game of the season on Tuesday, December 7, versus Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur.
