Bluejay School Song History
by Ciara Garcia
Pierce High School created its original school song. After being sung and chanted for years, it was eventually replaced with a new fight song, which we currently use, “Onward Bluejays.”
Alumni LuAnn Prahl, who used to sing the old song in high school, stated, “During my years at PHS and prior classes, we had a pep club in which we had to cheer with the cheerleaders and sing the various songs for sporting events, or get demerits.”
You may choose from all the colors
That stand for High School fame
There’s the orange, the black, and scarlett
They’re sure to win no fame
But the only combination
That makes our young hearts sigh
As we sing in adoration
Is the Royal Blue and White.
When the cares of life o’ertakes us
Mingling fast our locks with gray
Our dearest hopes betray us
False fortunes fade away.
Still we banish care and sadness
As we strive with all our might.
To recall the days of gladness
‘Neath the Royal Blue and White.

Despite the digging for information about the original school song, not much information was found. Treva Dostal, current teacher and PHS alum stated, “The only reason I know this song is because I go to alumni every year.” If anybody involved or originating from the Pierce community has any information about the school song, feel free to contact Ciara Garcia at ciaragarcia23@piercebluejays.org.
