Flashback to Alumni from Class of 1974, LuAnn Prahl
by Ciara Garcia
LuAnn (Wagner) Prahl, Pierce High alumni, graduated in 1974. When LuAnn was in high school, she participated in the band playing the clarinet, played volleyball, ran track, and was a member of the student council and National Honor Society.
LuAnn’s favorite memory from high school is her time spent playing volleyball. Her original plan for her career after high school was to become a stewardess, but in her junior year of high school decided to go into business rather than math and science.
One of LuAnn’s friends from high school, Jan Pentico stated, “She is a very friendly person. She's always nice, honest, and has no grudges with anybody.”
LuAnn attended Northeast Nebraska Technical Community College (now known as Northeast Community College) for two years and played volleyball for her college as well.
During college, she worked at an unemployment office until 1981. She opened an in-home daycare while her own children were still young. She then worked at the Farm Bureau office until 1992 when she began working for Pierce High School as the secretary.
LuAnn was married and has three children; Ellyette, Katie, and Todd. From those children, she now has eight grandchildren.
When asked about her favorite adult memories, LuAnn stated, “Raising my children and being able to attend all the sports they chose to be in and support them” is by far something she cherishes.
