New Inductees Welcomed to NHS

by Kailey Marks

On Friday, April 9, Pierce's National Honor Society held their annual induction ceremony to welcome their new members into their chapter.

After a brief introduction by this year’s president Tanner Kuper, short speeches were given on the foundational pillars that represent NHS including Scholarship, Character, Service, and Leadership. Speaking on the NHS criteria were Abigail Meier, Abygail Streff, Shawn Rinkel, and Mark Venticher.

As done every year, the new inductees and returning members are paired alphabetically. From here, the inductees and returning members will sign the National Honor Society member book and the returning member will light the inductee’s candle to symbolize their entrance into the NHS.

Senior McKenna Shonka explained that her favorite thing was, “to watch the speeches given because they really do represent who we are as a group in National Honor Society.”

New inductees include seniors Zach Collison, Derrick Kolterman, Ashton Oestreich, Mason Sindelar, Mikala Stone, and Dawson Watts.

Junior inductees include Callie Arnold, Brock Bolling, Kyla Knox, Brynnlee Marks, Makinzie Parsons, Graison Pfeiffer, Zachary Price, and Payten Simmons.

New sophomores inducted were Benjamin Brahmer, Ella Gaes, Morgan Moeller, Abram Scholting, Kaila Spieker, Matthew Steffen, Dalton Svoboda, and Brielle Unseld.

New inductee Arnold comments, “I wanted to join the National Honor Society because it is a huge honor to be on it. Also colleges look at being in the National Honor Society as a good thing, so I wanted to get in it. Getting into National Honor Society felt really good because it meant that all the hard work I’ve spent studying and all of the extra work outside of school pays off.”

Returning members include seniors Logan Moeller, Rinkel, Shelby White, Kenzie Moeller, Faith Lubischer, Kailey Marks, McKenna Shonka, Sarah Miller, Meier, MacKenzie Peters, Alexis Schnoor, Elizabeth Hammer, Kuper, Venteicher, Chaden Roth, Tristan Miller, Garret Meier, Tyler Race, and Luke Collison and juniors Alexus Sindelar, Gina Wragge, Larissa Meier, Marlie Kroupa, Sarah Fenton, Ritter Oestreich.

Every year, in the fall, students are again nominated and eligible to become members of this chapter.
