New Staff Member at Pierce High School
by Alexis Schnoor
Pierce High School is very happy to welcome a new student teacher, Alyssa Verros, who graduated high school from Sergeant Bluffs High School in Iowa.
She currently attends school at Wayne State College and is working toward a degree in middle-level education with endorsements in math and science. At Pierce High School, she is focusing her student teaching experience in the middle school science classrooms.
Verros’s family is made up of her two parents and two younger brothers. As a matter of fact, Verros said her inspiration for becoming a teacher came from her youngest brother. She spent time after school helping him out in school and learned that she was very good at teaching and even loved doing it.
Verros’s favorite hobbies include anything outside such as hiking, fishing, and camping. So far, Verros says she is enjoying her time at Pierce and commented, “I feel I will be very happy throughout the rest of the year, and I am very excited to take on more responsibilities and learn from the staff at Pierce.”
Verros is student teaching under the direction of Mr. Piper and Mr. Legate.
