Lady Jays Golf

Pierce Girls Golf Team Competes at Albion

The Pierce Lady Jays trekked to Boone Central on Saturday, September 19, for the Boone Central Invite. The Lady Jays overall finished the day in 7th place with a score of 452. 

Individually medaling was sophomore Keli Shermer with a 108. Right behind her was sophomore Alena Peters with a 109. Peters commented, “The team as a whole had the capability to do better but given the circumstances I feel we did better than expected.” 

Freshman Ashley Wacker swung her way into the score of 117. Coming in right behind was sophomore Zaylah Pfanstiel with the score of 118. Also golfing was sophomore Katelyn Gubbles with the score 140. Coach Melinda Stelling says, “We didn't place as high as we would have liked as a team, but I thought all of the girls had a competitive attitude throughout the day.”

Lady Jays Golf Team Takes Home Win

The Pierce Lady Jays golf team swung their clubs at Hartington on Thursday, September 17, for a triangular, and overall the Lady Jays took home 1st place. 

Senior Rebecca Albrecht swung her way to the top getting 3rd place with a score of 48. Right behind Albrecht was sophomore Keli Shermer in 4th place with a score of 49. Sophomore Alena Peters scored a 52 getting her into 5th place. 

Sophomore Zaylah Pfanstiel and freshman Ashley Wacker also golfed but their scores didn’t count for the overall team score. Pfansteil golfed a score of 54 and commented on the invite saying, “I think we did pretty well, but we could improve as a team on getting less putts.” Wacker finished with a score of 65. Head coach Melinda Stelling says, “This triangular was another great opportunity for all of the girls to get in another round of competition.  It was nice to come out on top.”
